Zirka … Dance to the Stars
We are pleased to announce our Zabava band – Zirka. Get ready to dance to the stars! They are six musicians who love to play their instruments and have a good time. Peter and Morris Hucal started the band in Sudbury when they were 12 years old playing guitar and accordion. Five years later their brother Johnny joined in on trumpet, then a couple years later their sister Katherine on sax. Bill Hawryschuk joined the band three years ago, bringing with him the experiences of playing drums with Solovey, Burya and Dunai. Karen Aniol joined the band two years ago on violin. They are currently based out of Toronto. Zirka has performed at countless zabavas, weddings and festivals over the years. They are looking forward to performing at Canada's National Ukrainian Festival this summer in Dauphin Manitoba.

Unity 2009 coming to Ontario!
Unity 2009 has received the support and blessing of his Grace Most Reverend Lawrence Huculak, osbm, Metropolitan for Ukrainian Catholics in Canada and his Excellency Most Reverend Bishop Stephen Chmilar, Eparch of Toronto and Eastern Canada.
The theme of “understanding, embracing and celebrating who we are as Ukrainian Catholics” has defined this event since Unity 1996 in Winnipeg, MB. At the request of Metropolitan Lawrence, the young adults from the Eparchy of Toronto and Eastern Canada have accepted the invitation to host Unity 2009 in Ontario. Previous Unity gatherings took place in Canmore, AB in 2004 and Muenster, SK in 2006.
